FAQ's

Curious about PM SHRI Schools?

Imagine existing schools getting a sprinkle of magic to become truly exceptional places! That's the heart of the PM SHRI Scheme (PM Schools for Rising India). It's like giving our schools a boost to become role models, beautifully showcasing all the exciting ideas from the National Education Policy, 2020.

Who is eligible for the PM SHRI Scheme?

Basically, PM SHRI Schools are for government-run elementary (up to Class 8) and secondary/senior secondary (up to Class 12) schools that have their own special UDISE+ code. It's like a little invitation for them to shine even brighter!

Excited to join? How does a school apply for PM SHRI?

If your school is dreaming of becoming a PM SHRI star, the journey begins at our online portal: https://pmshrischools.education.gov.in/. Good news! The portal opens its doors four times a year, once in each quarter, for the initial two years. So, there are plenty of opportunities to step forward!

What's the purpose behind the wonderful PM SHRI Scheme?

Happy Learning for All: Imagine schools where everyone gets a fantastic education that's fair, includes everyone, and feels like a joy! It's all about understanding each child's unique way of learning, just like the National Education Policy 2020 envisions.

Leading Lights: These schools will be like friendly leaders, sharing their sparkle and helping other schools in their neighborhood become even better.

Green and Growing: They'll be like little eco-paradises with solar power, energy-saving lights, gardens where healthy food grows, smart ways to recycle and save water, and lessons on living in harmony with nature.

Learning by Doing: Get ready for fun, hands-on learning that connects different ideas and focuses on what students truly understand and can use in their lives, especially when they're little!

Knowing What We Know: The focus will be on making sure every child truly learns and understands things, not just memorizing, with ways to check their progress that feel real and relevant.

Making the Most of Things: These schools will always be looking at what they have and finding ways to use it even better.

Skills for the Future: They'll connect with local businesses to help students learn skills that will lead to amazing job opportunities.

Always Getting Better: There will be a special way to check how well the schools are doing so they can keep improving and being the best they can be!

What is the budget allocation for the PM SHRI scheme?

The PM SHRI School scheme is a centrally sponsored project by the Government of India. They're investing a total of Rs 27,360 crore, with the central government contributing a heartwarming Rs 18,128 crore over five years (2022-23 to 2026-27) to help these schools shine!

What is the selection process for PM SHRI schools?

Schools will be selected through a competitive Challenge Mode to become exemplar institutions. The selection process involves three stages with specific timelines:

Stage 1: States/UTs will sign an MoU with the Centre, outlining their commitments to support the schools in achieving the quality standards of PM SHRI schools.

Stage 2: A pool of eligible schools will be identified based on a prescribed minimum benchmark using UDISE+ data.

Stage 3: Schools from the eligible pool will compete to meet certain criteria using the challenge method. The fulfilment of these conditions will be certified through physical inspections by States/UTs/KVS/NVS.

maximum of two schools (one elementary and one secondary/senior secondary) will be selected per block/ULB, with an overall upper limit on the number of schools selected across India
