A key advantage of employing a Hall-effect sensor like the ACS723 is the inherent electrical isolation it provides between the sensed circuit and the sensing circuit. This isolation is crucial as it allows the sensing circuit, which might be connected to a microcontroller like an Arduino running at 5V, to remain completely isolated from the circuit being measured, which could be operating at significantly higher DC or AC voltages. This electrical isolation provides a critical layer of protection for the lower-voltage sensing circuitry. 

The SparkFun Current Sensor Breakout is capable of measuring both direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC) up to a maximum of 5A.  This makes it suitable for a broad range of applications.  The board boasts full electrical isolation between the measured and sensed circuits, further enhancing its safety and versatility.  It has a base sensitivity of 400mV/A, meaning that for every Ampere of current flowing through the sensor, the output voltage changes by 400mV.  This sensitivity allows for precise current measurements.

Features:
