Description:
The RCWL-0516 Microwave Radar Motion Sensor Module is a compact, high-performance 5.8GHz Doppler microwave radar human presence sensor designed for accurate motion and occupancy detection in smart electronics projects. Unlike conventional PIR sensors, it uses microwave radar technology to detect movement through plastic, glass, and other non-metallic materials, providing higher sensitivity, faster response, and reliable performance in both daylight and complete darkness.
Operating from a wide 4V–28V DC input, the RCWL-0516 outputs a stable digital signal whenever motion is detected, making it easy to interface with Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, STM32, and other microcontrollers. Its 360° detection capability, low power consumption, compact size, and dependable performance make it an excellent choice for smart lighting, home automation, security systems, occupancy detection, IoT devices, robotics, automatic doors, and industrial automation. Whether you're building DIY electronics or professional embedded systems, the RCWL-0516 offers a reliable, cost-effective, and easy-to-integrate motion sensing solution.

Pin Description:
- 3V3: 3V3 power output
- GND: Ground
- OUT: Control output: when detecting moving objects, it will output a high level.
- VIN: Input voltage, 4-28V
- CDS: Enable control chip, lower than 0.7V, OUT will output low level all the time
Adjustment Part Introduction:
- C-TM: Adjust repeat trigger time; the default trigger time is 2s. Increasing the capacitor's capacity will make the repeat trigger time longer, and the actual counting trigger time can operate as below: Stick capacitor on C-TM, test 9196 3-pin frequency F, repeat trigger time T=(1/f)*32768
- R-GN detection distance adjustment: connect with the resistor and the detection distance will become shorter; if not connected, the detection distance is 7m; if connected with a 1M ohm resistor, the detection distance is 5m
- R-CDS Internal VCC parallel connects with an internal 1M ohm resistor to the CDS pin (that is, 196 9-pin) by R-CDS; CDS connects with the photoresist, so you can close detection function at night
