Description:
We believe in building a better future, and that includes tackling climate change head-on! That's why Raspberry Pi is proud to offer a Raspberry Pi Carbon Removal Credit with this product. Your purchase helps support the incredible work of UNDO, an organisation with an ambitious and vital mission: to permanently remove a billion tonnes of CO₂ from our planet's atmosphere. Join us in making a real difference!
Your Raspberry Pi Carbon Removal Credit is a credit-card-sized card with a unique, verifiable serial number. It represents an offset for the carbon footprint of manufacturing, shipping, and disposing of your Raspberry Pi board.
Here's how we make a difference with each card: For every Carbon Removal Credit, Raspberry Pi invests in removing 6.5kg of carbon from the atmosphere through UNDO's innovative "enhanced rock weathering" method. What does that mean? They spread finely crushed basalt rock on farmland. Over a maximum of twenty years, this natural process absorbs that rated amount of CO₂ directly from the air, locking it away permanently.
Note: Non-returnable / Non-replaceable
Features:
- Each credit funds 6kg of CO2 removal, locked away through enhanced rock weathering.
- Utilises proven rock weathering, a sustainable method for long-term carbon absorption.
- Tangible credit cards with unique serial numbers ensure transparent tracking.
- Simple, optional upgrade at checkout for immediate carbon offsetting.
- Supports Raspberry Pi's broader commitment to environmentally responsible practices.
How does it work?
UNDO takes silicate rock, crushes it into a fine powder, and spreads it on agricultural land. The rock begins weathering straight away, sped up by the increased reactive surface area, simultaneously removing atmospheric CO2 and enriching the soil with essential nutrients. Because silicate rocks are the most abundant on Earth, enhanced rock weathering can rapidly scale to permanently remove billions of tonnes of carbon dioxide every year.
