Description :

The GY-471 3A Current Sensor Module are precision, bidirectional current-sense amplifiers designed for critical battery monitoring in portable devices like laptops, smartphones, and other battery-powered systems. These integrated circuits enable high-side current monitoring, which minimizes interference with ground paths associated with battery chargers or monitoring circuits in "smart" batteries.

The MAX471 incorporates an internal 35mΩ current-sense resistor, allowing for accurate measurement of battery currents up to ±3A. For applications requiring greater flexibility or higher current measurements, the MAX472 operates with external sense and gain-setting resistors, providing customized measurement ranges.

Both devices feature a current output that can be easily converted to a ground-referenced voltage using a single resistor, accommodating a wide range of battery voltages and current levels. An open-collector SIGN output pin provides a clear indication of the current direction, enabling the user to monitor whether the battery is being charged or discharged.

These 3A Current Sensor Module energy-efficient devices operate from a wide supply voltage range of 3V to 36V while consuming minimal power, drawing less than 100µA over the entire operating temperature range. Additionally, a shutdown mode further reduces power consumption to a mere 18µA, extending battery life in low-power applications.
