The two copper strips on the soil moisture transducer module are the probes of the transducer. It is inserted into the soil and can detect soil moisture. The copper strips are more conductive when wet, reflecting lower electrical resistance between them. The conductivity of the soil is relatively poor when it is dry, so the resistance between them is higher. The output of the soil moisture transducer is an analogue signal, so we get the voltage signal through the analogue input.
After installing the DIY Automatic Irrigation System STEM Kit, it will judge whether it needs water to water the flowers according to the signal from the Soil Moisture Transducer.
