Description:

The DFRobot Gravity: MOSFET Power Controller addresses a common challenge in microcontroller projects: driving high-current devices with limited GPIO output. While relays are traditionally used, they require a significant current to activate their coils, posing a problem for microcontrollers like the Intel Edison, Intel Joule, Lilypad, and Raspberry Pi, which offer lower GPIO current capabilities.

This module acts as a highly efficient electronic switch, utilizing a MOSFET (Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor) to control high-current loads. Think of it as a solid-state relay or MOSFET driver offering superior performance and versatility. Applying a digital high-level signal (3.3V to 10V) to the control pin instantly activates the MOSFET, allowing current to flow to your connected device. Conversely, a low-level signal turns the MOSFET off, halting current flow.

Unlike mechanical relays, the MOSFET Power Controller is fully compatible with a wide range of microcontrollers, including Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and LattePanda, thanks to its 3.3V to 10V logic level compatibility. The power input (VIN) supports a wide voltage range of 5V to 36V and can handle currents up to 20A. For currents exceeding 10A, an external heatsink is recommended to ensure optimal performance and prevent overheating.
