The DFRobot UART Non-contact Optical Turbidity Sensor for Arduino offers a sophisticated approach to water quality assessment by precisely measuring turbidity levels. Leveraging optical principles, this innovative sensor analyzes the light transmittance and scattering properties of liquids contained within transparent cylindrical vessels ranging from 40 to 50mm in diameter. The resulting measurements are conveniently output as a UART data frame, providing a clear and quantifiable representation of the liquid's turbidity within a defined range.

This unique turbidity sensor features a clever non-contact design, employing two infrared probes that are positioned opposite each other on the exterior of the container. Detection occurs when the liquid level rises above the paired probes. This contactless methodology significantly reduces the risk of sensor corrosion or damage from prolonged exposure to water or harsh chemicals, ensuring long-term reliability and minimizing maintenance needs. Ideal for a variety of water quality monitoring applications, this sensor provides a robust and accurate solution for assessing the clarity and particulate matter content of liquids.
