Description:
An dot led matrix display consists of a matrix of LED’s arranged in a rectangular configuration. The desired character or graphics can be displayed by switching ON /OFF a desired configuration of LED’s. Dot matrix led can be used in simple display applications where the resolution is not a big concern. The 5x7 matrix is a common anode type LED display unit. A single matrix is formed by 35 led - 7 LED's arranged in five columns and seven rows (5x7). The anodes of the five LED's forming one row are connected together. Similarly, the cathodes of the seven LED's of a column are connected together. In this arrangement of LED's, the cathodes are switched to turn the LED's of a row ON or OFF.
