What is ATL?

Imagine a million young innovators shaping India's future. That's the vision behind Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs), an initiative by NITI Aayog under the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM). These vibrant spaces empower children to explore STEM through hands-on learning, sparking curiosity, creativity, and imagination. In ATLs, young minds bring their ideas to life through a do-it-yourself approach, developing essential skills like adaptive learning, computational thinking, physical computing, and rapid calculations.

Who is eligible for ATL?

Transform your school into a hub of innovation! Schools (Grades VI – X) managed by central/state governments, local bodies (municipality/Nagar Nigam), private trusts/societies, or tribal/social welfare departments have the opportunity to create inspiring Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs) right on their campus.

How much funding does AIM offer for setting up an ATL?

Each Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) receives generous support totaling ₹20.00 lakh! In the first year, up to ₹10.00 lakh is provided to equip the lab with everything it needs—from instruments and prototyping equipment like DIY kits and 3D printers to essential electronic tools. Over the next five years, an additional ₹10.00 lakh supports ongoing operations, including equipment maintenance, consumables, exciting science events and competitions, and honorariums for dedicated faculty and mentors.
