What Are the Benefits of Setting Up a STEM Lab in School?

Established under the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) of NITI Aayog (launched in 2016), ATLs are specialized school labs aimed at nurturing creativity and a problem-solving mindset in students from grades 6 to 12

These labs serve as innovation hubs equipped with:

  • DIY kits and tools for electronics, robotics, sensors, and miniaturized microcontrollers
  • 3D printers, rapid prototyping tools, and PCs to encourage hands-on exploration

Objectives & Vision:

  1. Cultivate Neoteric Innovators
    AIM’s vision is to nurture 1 million students into future innovators
  2. Develop Core 21st‑Century Skills
    Emphasizes design thinking, computational thinking, adaptive learning, and physical computing
  3. Stimulate Community-Oriented Innovation
    Students are encouraged to tackle real-world problems in their schools and local communities through prototypes and projects
